i have done it and it works, but i have a big flat iron and i have medium hair so it didnt work that well. im saving for a smaller flat iron!

if you dont like the video youtube reccomends other videos that explain and show better. i just choose this because its short and sweet and gets to the pointDoes your straightener have to have floating plates to curl hair?
No. I curl my hair without floating plates :]
my ceramic barrel rod and flat iron are not floating. it doesn't have to be in order to curl with a flat iron. you can curl with a flat iron and also give illisions of a body wave, so have fun!!!!
I'm not sure what floating plates are. Yes, if ';floating'; plates are the ones that have ';sides'; to them. You can't do waves with all flat irons, only certain ones. If it is just flat %26amp; the plates are flush to the body of the straightener you won't be able to do curls or waves. If they have little sides to which are part of the ceramic plates %26amp; which also heat up then you can do the wave styles. If you're straigtener doesn't work you can get a similar style using a curling iron %26amp; just do the curls loosely %26amp; not all the way to the root.
